Caroline (Cal) Cutler Turned Bungee Fitness Into GoCalFit

Fitness has always been more than a routine for Caroline (Cal) Cutler. It has been a daily priority tied to her well-being.

“When I move, I feel better. It’s as simple as that,” Cal said.

After years of relying on high-impact activities like running, Cal reached a point where her body needed something different, which led her to discover bungee fitness, a low-impact, high-energy workout.

“It was exciting, it was new, and the science behind it made sense,” she explained. “You can get the cardio you need while taking stress off your joints. That really stood out to me.”

A Personal Interest That Grew Into Something Bigger

Not only did it support Cal’s physical needs, but it also sparked a bigger vision. What started as a personal interest quickly became a business idea.

As the previous Director of Operations for an insurance technology company, Cal was no stranger to structure, data, and decision-making, but building a business from the ground up required a different kind of clarity.

“I had been sitting on the idea for about two years,” she said. “I knew I wanted to do something with it, but I hadn’t taken that first step.”

That changed when she connected with Jerry Coleman at the CFCC Small Business Center.

“I came in with excitement, energy, and a rough plan,” she said. “But it was all over the place.”

Through one-on-one guidance, Jerry helped her transform that scattered vision into a structured, actionable business plan.

“He didn’t shut anything down,” Cal said. “He took what I had and helped refine it, putting real numbers, real timelines, and real clarity behind it.”

One of the most valuable aspects of working with the Small Business Center was having someone who could both challenge and support her.

“As an entrepreneur, you need someone who can help you focus without taking away your excitement, and that’s what Jerry did,” Cal said. “He helped me make smarter decisions instead of emotional ones.”

Building a Business and a Community

Cal launched GoCalFit out of a home studio with just three students. Those early sessions were validating because they confirmed real interest and demand for what she was offering. As her confidence grew, so did her client base.

Today, GoCalFit operates out of Anytime Fitness through a unique partnership with franchisee-owner and manager Alex Zuo. The partnership has enabled Cal to connect with a broader audience while creating a welcoming, supportive space for all ages.

“When people feel safe, when they feel like they belong, that’s what keeps them coming back,” she said.

As Cal continues to expand her offerings and explore new opportunities, she remains grounded in the lessons that helped her turn an idea into a thriving business.

“To have someone take the time to mentor you, share their experience, and genuinely care about your success, it’s hard to put into words how valuable that is.”
