A Historic Partnership: Learn Inside an Active Studio Lot

Cape Fear Community College has launched a groundbreaking partnership with Cinespace Studios, making CFCC the first community college in the nation to operate a film production program directly on an active Cinespace studio lot. Starting this fall, our classes are relocating directly onto the working lot, immersing students in professional workflows, industry-standard equipment configurations, and real-world crew expectations.

Expanding Continuing Education & Workforce Training

To meet the immediate workforce demands of Wilmington’s booming film ecosystem, CFCC is rapidly expanding upcoming specialized workforce tracks. Planned new technical trainings include:

• Production Assistant Weekend Training – Fast-track entry into active set operations.
• Grip and Electrical Rigging for Stage – Industrial stage mechanics and safety protocols.
• Camera Department Operations – Technical setup, data management, and camera body mastery.
• Set Lighting Operations – Advanced power distribution and creative illumination setups.
• Special Effects Training – Practical on-set illusion mechanics and safety standards.
