Reentry Symposium at CFCC to Explore Rehabilitation and Second Chances

Wilmington, NC (October 8, 2026) –The Cape Fear Community College Criminal Justice Club and the University of North Carolina Wilmington Sociology & Criminology Club will co-host “Pathways & Second Chances: A Community Reentry Symposium” on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

The daylong symposium will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Windell Daniels Hall, Room U508, located inside Union Station.

Attendees will experience panel discussions, gain access to vital community resources, and engage in conversations centered on rehabilitation, successful reentry, and building sustainable pathways to second chances.

Lateisha Thrash, Director of Re-entry Services with the NC Department of Adult Correction, will be the featured guest speaker. New Hanover County District Attorney Jason Smith will also be participating in a Q & A session at the end of the program. Community partner organizations involved will include Coastal Horizons, Leading Into New Communities (LINC), North Carolina Formerly Incarcerated Transition Program, and the NC Department of Transportation.

The event is free and open to the public.
