CFCC and Regional Partners Host Career Connections Event in Burgaw

Career Connections is hosting a Hiring Event on Sept. 28 at the Burgaw Train Depot, connecting job seekers with local opportunities in the skilled trades and NCWorks Career Advisors. Business networking runs from 4:30–5 p.m., followed by the public hiring event from 5–7 p.m.; veterans are encouraged to attend.

Wilmington, NC (September 22, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College, in partnership with Pender County Schools CTE, the Burgaw Chamber of Commerce, the Town of Burgaw, the Cape Fear Council of Governments, and NCWorks, will host the 2nd Annual Career Connections Hiring & Networking Event on Monday, September 28, 2026, at the historic Burgaw Train Depot.

The event will bring together local employers, job seekers, and prospective students for an evening focused on career and training opportunities in high-demand industries. Business networking begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the public event from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free, and veterans are encouraged to attend.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect directly with employers who are hiring and learn about CFCC programs and spring enrollment opportunities in fields including:

  • Mechatronics
  • HVAC
  • Welding
  • Automotive
  • Construction
  • Machining
  • Heavy equipment operation
  • Electrical apprenticeship
  • Lineworker training
  • Nurse aide
  • CDL truck driving

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, Career Connections has expanded to a new location at the Burgaw Train Depot. This year’s event builds on that momentum, creating more opportunities for area employers to connect with potential employees while introducing job seekers and prospective students to training pathways that can lead directly to in-demand careers.
