CDL Truck Driving and Paramedic Programs Approved for Veterans Affairs Benefits

CFCC Truck Driving

Wilmington, NC (June 23, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College is proud to announce that the Commercial Driver’s License Truck Driving and Paramedic Programs are now officially approved for the use of Veterans Affairs education benefits. This significant development means eligible veterans and military-affiliated students can now use their benefits to cover tuition and fees associated with these high-demand training programs.

This marks the first time in several years that these two programs have received VA approval. With this reinstatement, students using the Post-9.11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Veterans Readiness and Employment, or the Survivors’ and Dependents Educational Assistance Program are now able to apply their benefits toward tuition and fees, as well as collect a monthly housing allowance or a monthly stipend, depending on which benefit is used.

“We are honored to support those who have served our country by expanding access to workforce training,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This approval helps veterans and their families take full advantage of the benefits they’ve earned while preparing for rewarding careers that strengthen our community and economy.”

The CDL Truck Driving Program prepares students for careers as professional drivers in a growing industry with strong regional demand. The Paramedic Program provides training for Advanced EMT’s looking to take the next step in their emergency medical services career.  Both programs offer hands-on learning pathways to certification, positioning graduates for immediate employment opportunities.
