CFCC Children’s Theatre Brings Free Fairy Tale Performances to Local Youth

Wilmington, NC (October 2, 2026) – The Children’s Theatre class at Cape Fear Community College is bringing free, family-friendly fairy tale performances to local youth this fall.
The troupe will stage classic fairy tales designed to engage and entertain children. In addition to their annual holiday production in December of A Charlie Brown Christmas, the class is adding fairy tale showcases to their semester schedule.
The presentation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, at 1:00 p.m. in the Studio Theatre inside the Wilson Center. The approximately 30-minute performance will feature two beloved classics, Rapunzel and Hansel and Gretel. The show is free and open to all families and parents throughout the community.
“Every year, our goal is to reach out and bring live theater to young people in the Wilmington area,” said Drama Instructor Jack Landry, who has taught at CFCC for 21 years. “This course gives our students hands-on learning by rehearsing and creating a production from the ground up, culminating in the joy of performing directly for young audiences.”
Later in the month, the student cast will take their production on the road. The troupe will visit the Wilmington School of the Arts to perform for 4th-grade students, expanding their repertoire to include a third story, Little Red Riding Hood.
