CFCC Emergency Medical Services program achieves CAAHEP accreditation

emsWilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College is proud to announce that the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) program has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). CFCC’s EMS program is the first accredited EMS program in Southeastern North Carolina.

This accreditation reflects the program’s commitment to excellence and ensures students receive the highest quality education and training in emergency medical sciences. The CAAHEP accreditation process is rigorous and involves an in-depth curriculum review, faculty qualifications, facilities, and student outcomes. The initial program accreditation extends until 2029.

“This accreditation underscores our program’s commitment to upholding the highest standards in emergency medical services training,” said Alan Brook, CFCC Director of EMS Programs. “It reflects our ongoing dedication to providing our students with the highest quality education and ensuring that they are well-prepared to meet the challenges of their profession.”

“By obtaining CAAHEP accreditation, we are offering our students the highest caliber of training,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “The need for skilled healthcare professionals in our region is growing, and CFCC is proud to play a role in ensuring that paramedics entering the workforce are well educated and prepared to meet industry demands.”

CFCC’s Emergency Medical Services program provides high-quality instruction through intense classroom, scenario-based labs, clinical and EMS experiences, and group project methodologies. Students use state-of-the-art simulation equipment to gain the assessment and critical thinking skills necessary to provide care to those in need. Graduates of the program are qualified to work in EMS, fire departments, rescue agencies, hospital specialty areas, industry, educational, and government agencies.
