CFCC Fall Lecture Series Presents: Indigeneity in India
Wilmington, NC (September 10, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College’s Humanities and Education Department will host a special Fall Lecture Series event titled Indigeneity in India: Talk & Art Workshop on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
Sponsored by Carolina Public Humanities, the program explores contemporary Indigenous culture and art in India. It will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Room S002 on CFCC’s Downtown campus.
The program opens with an educational talk presented by Parag Saikia, a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Saikia’s presentation will address how indigeneity is understood in contemporary India while examining key issues, challenges, and opportunities facing these communities today.
Following the presentation, artist Sampada Kodagali Agarwal will lead a hands-on art workshop. Attendees will learn traditional painting techniques in the tribal style of the Warli people and create their own custom artwork to take home.
This event is part of CFCC’s 5th Annual Fall Lecture Series.
It is free to attend and open to the public.
