CFCC hosts spring humanities lecture on hip-hop’s cultural impact

Hip Hop Screen Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) presents the Spring Humanities Lecture Series featuring Hip-Hop 101: The Cultural Origin and Societal Evolution of Mainstream Hip-Hop. This discussion will take place on Thursday, February 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in U-170 in CFCC’s Union Station (502 N. Front Street, Wilmington).

Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman, a renowned pop culture historian and program director for WMNX—COAST 97.3 and WDAI – Kiss 98.5, will lead the discussion. This lecture will explore hip-hop’s rich history, creative resilience, and profound cultural significance. Attendees will gain insight into the genre’s evolution, its role in shaping identity and community, and its global impact on music, art, and social movements.
