CFCC Launches ‘Sea Devil Cove’ at Career Readiness Academy at Mosley

college classroom with CFCC branding

Wilmington, NC (August 20, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College is bringing the college experience directly to high school students at the Career Readiness Academy at Mosley. Expanding on a two-year partnership, CFCC has established two dedicated college classrooms on the Mosley campus to help students kickstart their higher education and career training.

Dubbed “Sea Devil Cove,” the newly upgraded space features a 19-station computer lab, modern desks and chairs, and vibrant CFCC branding designed to foster an authentic college atmosphere.

“When students walk into that new space, we really want them to feel like they’re college students,” said Charlie Broadfoot, Principal of Mosley. “That builds into the question of, ‘When I graduate, what’s next?’ And for a lot of our students, we’re hoping CFCC will be that next step.”

Mosley students voted on their preferred course options. Students chose cybersecurity, graphic design, and criminal justice. The tuition-free courses will be taught by CFCC faculty.

“Partnering with local schools allows us to meet students right where they are,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “By creating a dedicated college environment at Mosley, we’re removing barriers to entry and opening immediate doors to higher learning and career success.”

The classrooms provide an introduction to the college experience without requiring students to leave their high school campus. Upon successful completion, they unlock broader opportunities, including taking online CFCC courses or taking classes in person at CFCC’s campuses.
