CFCC and Johnson & Wales Partner to Offer Transfer Pathway for Food-Focused Fields

Wilmington, NC (January 14, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College has entered into a new articulation agreement with Johnson & Wales University, creating clear transfer pathways for culinary students to continue their education and earn bachelor’s degrees in food-focused fields.

The agreement established multiple transfer options for CFCC students pursuing careers in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, and food and beverage leadership. Through the partnership, eligible CFCC graduates can transfer into the following Johnson & Wales bachelor’s degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Food Science
    • Culinary track
    • Baking and Pastry track
  • Bachelor of Science in Food and Beverage Entrepreneurship
    • Culinary track
    • Baking and Pastry track
  • Bachelor of Science in Food and Beverage Industry Management
    • Culinary track
    • Baking and Pastry track

“Johnson & Wales is nationally recognized for excellence in culinary education, and this agreement creates a strong, natural next step for our students,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “By aligning our programs, we’re creating a clear pathway for CFCC students to continue their education at an institution that is well known for preparing leaders in the culinary and food industries.”

“We are so pleased to offer pathway opportunities for Cape Fear Community College students, particularly given their longstanding and highly successful culinary-related programming,” said Jason Evans, JWU Dean of College and Food Innovation and Technology.

To qualify for transfer, students must:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.7
  • Complete an eligible associate degree
  • Meet the admission standards and comply with the admission procedures of JWU
