CFCC to Launch Automotive Window Tint and Vinyl Wrap Technician Course

Wilmington, NC (March 16, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College is launching a new Automotive Window Tint and Vinyl Wrap Technician course that will provide students with hands-on training inside a professional automotive customization facility through a partnership with Tint World in Wilmington.

Unlike traditional classroom-based training, the course takes place directly inside Tint World’s installation facility, allowing students to learn in an active shop environment while working with professional tools, materials, and equipment used in the industry.

Students will gain valuable insight into the daily operations of an automotive customization shop, including understanding live production workflows, installation standards, and customer vehicle handling procedures. In addition, students will also receive introductory training in high-demand dealership and fleet upfitting services, including speaker, amplifier, and audio component installation; interior panel removal and wiring routing; installation of sirens and emergency lighting systems; and 12V power integration and switch panel control units.

“Hosting this course at Tint World’s installation facility allows students to train in a real, working shop environment,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “They’ll gain experience with professional installation bays, learn how to manage production timelines and quality standards, and develop the skills needed to handle customer vehicles and high-grade materials with confidence.”

Due to the hands-on, production-based nature of this training, students must possess prior experience or foundation education in automotive services. Eligible backgrounds include Automotive Technology or Auto Body/Collision Repair training, Automotive Detailing or Restyling experience, paint or refinishing experience, or dealership accessory installation or document hands-on work history.

The course begins on March 31 and is offered in a hybrid format. Students will meet in person on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at Tint World, and the online portion is self-paced with no scheduled meeting times, so work can be completed whenever it’s convenient.
