CFCC’s Commercial, Fine, and Performing Arts Department Presents: Machinal

Wilmington, NC (November 2, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College’s Commercial, Fine, and Performing Arts Department presents its fall production of Machinal by Sophie Treadwell.
Machinal is a 1920s powerful expressionist drama about a young woman who feels trapped by society’s expectations and the limited choices available to her as she navigates her career, family life, marriage, and childbirth. Inspired by the true-crime trial of Ruth Snyder, the play examines how an industrial, capitalist society can provoke self-destruction and how all oppressions are intertwined.
CFCC students and faculty will direct, design, and perform. The production runs November 12-14 and November 19-21, with shows at 7:00 p.m. each night. The venue is the Studio Theatre, located at the rear of the Wilson Center on Hanover Street.
Tickets can be purchased online at WilsonCenterTickets.com or by contacting the box office. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $12 for CFCC faculty and staff, and $6 for students and children. Questions can be directed to tickets@wilsoncentertickets.com .
