Donterio Perkins is originally from Bethel, NC where he attended and graduated from North Pitt High School. He now lives in Brunswick County with his wife Alexis and their 2 children; Jaxon (7) and Ava (4). Donterio is a graduate of North Carolina Wesleyan College (now University!) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies. After graduation, he worked as a Juvenile Court Counselor and Probation/Parole Officer with the NC Department of Public Safety for 13 years prior to his role in higher education at Cape Fear Community College (CFCC). He currently serves as the Coordinator of Student Life & Engagement. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Grand Canyon University (May 2017) and Master of Public Administration degree (December 2022) from Drake University where he was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for Social Impact in 2022 and initiated into Pi Alpha Alpha, the International Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration (Drake University Chapter). Donterio (along with his wife) was also selected as a 2023 Wilmington Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40 Award and 2024 New Hanover County Equity Award in Education recipient. He is a recent graduate of the Leadership Wilmington Class of 2025 with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated where is an active member of the Delta Nu Sigma Chapter in Wilmington, NC and currently serves as chapter treasurer. Donterio is a 2-time recipient of the Delta Nu Sigma Chapter’s Scholarship Award (2017 and 2025).
