Biography
Adam Moxley-White is the full-time music instructor for Applied Brass at Cape Fear Community College, and he also teaches music appreciation and electronic music. His degrees are in music performance from Columbus State University and music education from Gardner-Webb University. Adam’s primary trumpet teachers were Tim Hudson and Dr. Robert Murray, and he is an active performer as both a jazz/commercial and classical trumpet player in the Carolinas.
As a soloist, Adam has been featured with the Tallis Chamber Orchestra, performing “All Through the Night” by Gwyneth Walker; The Gardner Webb Orchestra, performing the Neruda Trumpet Concerto; and twice for orchestra performances at First Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC, performing “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Richard Kingsmore and the soprano solo for Dubois’ “The Seven Last Words of Christ–Introduction” on Flugelhorn.
As an ensemble musician, Adam is the Solo Chair in the Wilmington Big Band and is a member of the Wilmington Symphony and the City Ballet (principal trumpet player for The Nutcracker ballet, 2023). Previously, he has performed with Opera Wilmington (La Traviata), Thalian Hall (Man of La Mancha), Long Bay Symphony, UNCW Big Band, and the 1086 Collective. Adam is also the co-founder of the Jasmine Duo with Paul Miller, pianist.
As an educator, Adam co-runs a Jazz Chamber Group with the Wilmington Youth Symphony, as well as regularly doing brass sectionals with local middle and high schools. Through his passionate teaching, he has been instrumental in many students’ successful transfer to four-year colleges.
Adam is an active member of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG).
