Biography
David Howell is the Executive Director of the CFCC Foundation. He joined the Foundation team in March of 2025.
David previously served in multiple leadership roles with the American Red Cross, including Senior Regional Philanthropy Officer, Chief Development Officer, Advanced Fundraiser Training Lead, and National Program Manager in Disaster Fundraising. As the Southeastern U.S. Division’s sole representative on the National Foundation Advisory Council, he played a key role in shaping best practices in philanthropy and financial growth across the organization.
A lifelong North Carolinian and Wilmington resident since 2004, David has remained deeply connected to the state’s colleges and universities as both an educator and advocate. Passionate about community service, he has served on numerous nonprofit boards. He is currently President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals of the Cape Fear, a volunteer-led organization dedicated to strengthening local nonprofits and their impact.
