Biography

In 2001, with only a year into college, Traci O’Connor (previously Traci Whitton) began her career at The Timken Company as a CNC programmer and CAD operator as she worked to earn her Mechanical Drafting Technology degree through Isothermal Community College. After earning her degree, she was promoted to Senior Designer.

In 2005, while still working at The Timken Company, she began teaching at Isothermal Community College at night while also earning her Engineering degree through Western Carolina University. In 2008, she became a full-time faculty member at ICC where she was a Mechanical Drafting instructor, later earning the title of Lead Instructor.

In 2021, she became the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program Director at Cape Fear Community College. In 2024, she began working part time as an adjunct instructor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program to get married and move to Havelock, NC where she resides with her new husband, Josh. Her husband is a retired Marine who works as a contractor on the Marine Corps Air Station – Cherry Point.

Over her manufacturing and teaching careers, she has gained a wealth of knowledge in many CAD software programs and has taught courses in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, architecture, drafting, CNC programming, and 3D printing.
