Sandra Collette Scholarship in Media & Communications launched at CFCC

Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is excited to introduce the Sandra Collette Scholarship in Media & Communications, a $2,000 annual scholarship created and funded by the Coach Bill Dooley Education Foundation (CBDEF). Named after media veteran Sandra “Sandy” Collette, the scholarship supports students pursuing media and communications studies and recognizes academic excellence, positive attitudes, and community involvement.

Sandy’s 45-year media and public relations career includes leadership roles in Houston, Dallas, and Wilmington. Locally, she is known for her work as the publicity chairperson for the North Carolina Azalea Festival, a role she served in for twenty years. She has also served in various community leadership roles, including the United Way, March of Dimes, Hope Abounds, Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame, Coach Bill Dooley Education Foundation, and many others.

“We are honored to establish the Sandra Collette Scholarship at Cape Fear Community College,” said Tom Hackler, CBDEF Treasurer. “This scholarship will serve as a lasting tribute to Sandy’s legacy, leading to the growth and development of future leaders in the media and communications industries.”

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Coach Bill Dooley Education Foundation and establish this scholarship in the name of Sandy Collette,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This scholarship serves as both a tribute to her career and community involvement, as well as a valuable opportunity for our students in media and communications to advance their education.”
