North Carolina among top five states to see manufacturing job growth

The Reshoring Initiative is campaigning to bring nearly 400,000 manufacturing jobs back to the United States in 2022. According to the 2021 Reshoring Initiative Survey , 108 North Carolina companies have already benefited from the reshoring with 9,150 additional jobs. Those numbers are expected to rise again in 2022.

Fast-Growing Jobs in Manufacturing

According to CareerBuilder.com, many careers in manufacturing are among the fastest growing in the country.

  • A Machinist operates machine tools such as a lathe or milling machine. CFCC offers multiple programs depending on your training needs. Introductory training is available with Machining Applications . Students who wish to advance their machining skills can transfer those credits to the Computer Integrated Machining associate degree program.
  • Welding is used in many industries, including manufacturing, construction, and metalworking. CFCC offers short-term welding training for gas tungsten, shielded metal, and flux core arc processes. Students can also earn a Welding Technology diploma which covers all the welding processes.
  • With nearly 276 million vehicles in the United States, it is understandable why there is a demand for Painting and Coating Workers. This career choice includes commercial cars, trains, boats, and airplanes. CFCC’s Collision, Repair, and Refinishing Technology program offers a certificate or diploma program to prepare students to be workforce professionals in 3 semesters or less.
  • Entry-level training for Fabricators and Assemblers can be achieved in 12 short weeks at CFCC in the Manufacturing Production Technician program. This is a great way to get your foot in the door.
