Employee Spotlight: Kelly Jordan-Hall
Nurse Aide Program Senior Administrative Technician Kelly Jordan-Hall is a local through and through. Born in Wilmington, she moved to Hampstead during her elementary school years. Her education continued at Topsail High in Hampstead, where she developed a fondness for English and History classes.
After graduating high school, Kelly faced uncertainty regarding her future educational path and field of study, eventually opting for business school. It was only later in life, after having her children, that Kelly truly found herself and her calling: dedicating her life to assisting children in becoming the best version of themselves.
Kelly’s active participation in her children’s school life was a cornerstone in her career evolution. Her work with the PTA, volunteering in the classroom, and tutoring laid the foundation for her commitment to fostering educational growth.
This path led her into her current role in the Nurse Aide program, where she assists students with enrollment. This position became a seamless extension of her desire to help students, not only by guiding them through the administrative process but also by supporting them in starting their careers in healthcare.
Nurse Aide Program Director Katie Griffin recognizes Kelly’s instrumental role in guiding students through their educational journey.
“Kelly is patient and helpful to students at all times. When students talk about her they tell me that she has helped them out so much by directing them through the registration and class preparation processes. She is the staple that holds our program together.”
Kelly generously took the time to share her experience at CFCC with us.
WHAT YEAR DID YOU START WORKING AT CFCC AND WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE?
I began working at CFCC in the fall of 2013. When I decided to return to work after my children began school, I wanted to work in an elementary school to fulfill my passion for helping young children. After pursuing that avenue for several years, I decided I wanted to do something different and be more on the business side of education. That is what brought me to CFCC.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK?
I enjoy the interaction with students when I’m registering them for various classes. Their excitement to begin something new is exciting to me. It’s both rewarding and uplifting for me to see students from all walks of life setting out to make a difference in their own lives all while making a difference in the lives of others.
WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING, WHAT DO YOU DO?
When it is summertime, you will find me at the BEACH! I love where I live and I enjoy being a local tourist in the surrounding small towns around us on the weekends. When my husband and I have time, we like to travel as well. Our most recent trip was to Napa Valley and the vineyards were gorgeous! I love to read, watch movies, and bake. Most of all, I love spending time with my family!
WHO HAD THE GREATEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR EDUCATION AND/OR CAREER PATH?
My grandmother had the greatest impact on my life. She taught me what kind of person to be, how to treat others, and put family first.
WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?
Don’t try and accomplish everything in one day, all good things desired take time to accomplish. I was always told growing up that life is a process, we are here to learn and grow and it doesn’t happen in one day, but over a lifetime.
