CFCC Launches Inaugural Class of Natural Hair Care Program
Wilmington, NC (March 25, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College is launching a Natural Hair Care Specialist program. This new program offers students the opportunity to train in the thriving natural hair care industry, a rapidly growing field in the beauty sector.
Designed to prepare students for licensure as Natural Hair Care Specialists in North Carolina, the program focuses on non-chemical hair care techniques such as braiding, twisting, wrapping, locking, and extending natural hair. Students will receive hands-on instruction and real-world experience, gaining the skills to work in salons, open their own businesses, or serve clients seeking natural hair care services.
Classes will be held Monday-Thursday, 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on CFCC’s North Campus. The course lasts 16 weeks. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the North Carolina State Board of Cosmetic Arts Licensing Exam for Natural Hair Care Specialists.
Enrollment is now open for this program. To learn more about the Natural Hair Care Specialist program, visit cfcc.edu/job-training/natural-hair-care-specialist/ .
