Wilmington, NC (May 12, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College is expanding its training opportunities with the launch of a new Biotechnology-Bioprocess Manufacturing program beginning this fall. The Associate of Applied Science degree program is designed to prepare students for high-demand careers in biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and related scientific industries.

The Biotechnology-Bioprocess Manufacturing program will provide students with hands-on training in laboratory procedures, biomanufacturing processes, quality control, and industry-standard technologies used in the production of biological products and pharmaceuticals. As biotechnology continues to grow across North Carolina and the Southeast, the program will equip graduates with the technical skills needed to enter a rapidly evolving workforce.

“Biotechnology is one of the fastest-growing industries in our region and state,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This new program gives students an affordable and accessibly pathway into high-paying, high-demand careers while helping meet the workforce needs of local and regional employers.”

Students enrolled in the program will gain practical experience through coursework and laboratory instruction designed to mirror real-world industry environments. Career opportunities for graduates may include positions in pharmaceutical manufacturing, chemical analysis laboratories, biotechnology production facilities, quality assurance, and research support.
