If you’re interested in taking a few courses for personal enrichment, but don’t want to complete a degree, diploma, or certificate program, you’re in the right place. Here’s what you need to do to apply.
First, complete your North Carolina Residency Determination. This establishes whether you’ll pay in-state or out-of-state tuition. Once completed, you will be assigned a Residency Certification Number (RCN). Save this number! You’ll need it for the CFCC admission application.
If you are currently enrolled or previously attended a North Carolina college or university, please review this information:
If you have a valid residency status that will not expire before the term you wish to enroll begins, you do not need to complete the residency process again. You can use your current/valid residency certification number for CFCC enrollment. If this is the case, proceed to step two, the admissions application. If your residency certification will expire before the term you wish to enroll begins, please continue with the residency application and renew your residency status.
We recommend you have access to the following information before you start your residency:
If you are under the age of 25, you will most likely need to complete residency with a parent or legal guardian.
Need assistance completing residency? Contact the Residency Determination Service at 844-319-3640 or rdsinfo@ncresidency.org .
Need access to a computer, scanner, or fax machine? Visit CFCC Enrollment Center at the downtown campus.
If your residency tuition classification changes and you need CFCC to update your student record, please email residency@cfcc.edu . Remember to include your RCN number in any correspondence.
For additional information about the residency, see Residency Information .
Now you’re ready to complete the official admission application!

Complete Application
You’re almost there! If you plan to register for a course that has prerequisites, you will need to be waived from those prerequisites before you’ll be eligible to register. Often this can be completed by submitting official college transcripts (transfer credit) or by taking a placement test. If you have questions about course prerequisites, please contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@cfcc.edu .
How to Request Your High School TranscriptOnce your application has been processed, unless you need to submit additional documentation to be waived from course prerequisites, you will be eligible to register.
