CFCC announces selection of Shawn Dixon to provost of North Campus
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is proud to announce the promotion of Shawn Dixon to the position of Provost of the North Campus. This decision reflects the college’s commitment to nurturing talent and advancing leaders from within.
Having served at CFCC for 26 years, Shawn Dixon is no stranger to the college’s culture, values, and strategic goals. In his previous role as the Applied Technologies Department Chair, Dixon demonstrated an exceptional ability to foster collaboration, drive innovation, and engage with faculty, staff, and students. Since taking over as Department Chair in 2015, the Applied Technologies Department has become the largest department at CFCC.
“Shawn Dixon brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of Cape Fear Community College’s unique strengths and challenges,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “His dedication to academic excellence, student success, and continuous improvement will undoubtedly contribute to the college’s continued growth and impact on the community.”
As Provost, Dixon will be accountable for the strategic leadership and operational management of the Career and Technical Education Division and serve as the senior administrator for the CFCC North Campus. Dixon will be pivotal in overseeing curriculum development and providing faculty support and student services.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to take on this new role and serve as Provost,” said Dixon. “My time as a department chair has improved my understanding of our college’s community. I’m excited to bring that perspective to broaden academic leadership and continue fostering an environment where students and faculty can thrive.”
