CFCC Community Relations Awarded Five NCMPR Medallion Awards

Wilmington, NC (November 12, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College has earned recognition for excelling in marketing and communications, taking home five prestigious Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. These awards celebrate the best in creativity, design, and communications from community and technical colleges across NCMPR’s seven districts. The regional competition exclusively honors the creativity and impact of marketing and public relations professionals at two-year institutions.

CFCC received the following awards:

  • Gold Medallion for Social Media Page (Facebook): With over 41,000 followers, the  CFCC Facebook page has become a powerful platform for connecting with students, faculty, staff, and the community, offering informative and entertaining content about the college’s programs, events, and students.
  • Gold Medallion for Social Media Post or Video: A TikTok video featuring May 2025 graduates sharing what they wanted to be when they grew up compared to what they’re becoming after graduation went viral, garnering over 2 million views, 256.3K likes, nearly 2,700 shares, and more than 15,400 saves.
  • Silver Medallion for Commercial: CFCC’s Spring 2025 commercial “What Drives You” features several programs, student activities, and athletics.
  • Bronze Medallion for Outdoor Advertising: The CFCC Trade Up advertising campaign focused on the new Cape Fear 4Careers initiative, highlighting in-demand trade programs.
  • Bronze Medallion for Long Form Writing: A story about CFCC student Alex Dahlberg , who was diagnosed with Epstein-Barr encephalitis and spent a month in a coma on life support. After surviving this life-threatening illness, Alex discovered a renewed purpose and passion for music.

“We are incredibly proud to receive these five Medallion Awards, which celebrate the creativity, hard work, and dedication of our marketing and communications team,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “These recognitions bring light to the inspiring stories of our students and employees and the many opportunities that make Cape Fear Community College such a special place.”
