CFCC Humanities Department presents International Film Festival

CFCC International Film FestivalWilmington, NC – The Cape Fear Community College Humanities Department is proud to announce the hosting of its fourth International Film Festival. Showcasing the languages taught at CFCC, this event will celebrate diversity, foster cultural understanding, and provide an engaging platform for students and the community to explore the world through the lens of international cinema. The festival will take place over the course of three days, February 13 through February 15.

The festival will showcase three films, each offering a unique perspective on life, dreams, and the human experience:

The Last Out
Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 12:30 p.m.

Three Cuban baseball players leave their families and risk exile to chase their dreams of playing in the United States. At the shadowy nexus of the migrant trail and pro sports, The Last Out chronicles their harrowing journey, from immigration obstacles to the broken promises of dubious agents.

When Abel learns his mother is about to marry a man in prison, he freaks out. With the help of his best friend, he will do whatever it takes to protect her. But meeting his new stepfather may well offer him a new perspective.

A group of friends are in a holiday home by the Baltic Sea where emotions run high as the parched forest around them catches fire.

The three-film festival will be held at CFCC’s Union Station in room U-170 (502 N. Front Street, Wilmington, NC). All films will be screened in a foreign language with English subtitles. CFCC’s Baking and Pastry Arts will offer culturally suitable treats in limited quantities. There is no cost to attend the festival. For more information, visit cfcc.edu/filmfest/.
