CFCC scholarship fundraiser raises $113,500 for automotive technology programs
Wilmington, NC — Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is excited to announce its recent fundraiser for students in the Automotive System Technology, Automotive Customizing Technology, and Collision Repair and Refinishing programs raised $113,500. These funds will directly benefit students by providing critical tools, equipment, and scholarships to support their pursuit of careers in the automotive industry, helping to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in these fields.
The fundraiser, held on November 14, brought together community members, industry leaders, and automotive enthusiasts for an evening of celebration and giving. Two major donors and longtime CFCC supporters—Tim and Vicki Milam, CFCC Board of Trustees Chair Lanny Wilson, and his wife, Jill—made significant gifts, exemplifying the community’s commitment to education and workforce development.
“We are grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This incredible support demonstrates our region’s value in developing a skilled workforce and the importance of helping students achieve their career goals. These funds will impact the lives of our students and the industries they serve.”
“CFCC’s automotive programs are phenomenal, and their instructors go above and beyond,” said Tim Milam, CEO of Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage. “It is an honor for my wife and me to contribute to helping these young people grow and prosper in this community that we love. I encourage people who don’t know what’s happening at Cape Fear Community College to contact the Foundation and find out. They’re doing incredible work.”
CFCC’s automotive programs provide hands-on training in advanced vehicle systems, customization techniques, and collision repair, preparing students to succeed in various automotive careers. The programs also contribute to the local economy by producing highly trained graduates who meet the needs of employers in the region.
