S building Wilmington, NC — Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) will host an Academic and Career Readiness Open House on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the S-Building at CFCC’s downtown campus (411 N. Front Street, Wilmington). This event will allow community members to discover CFCC’s Academic and Career Readiness programs and learn about the various support services offered to students. The Open House will feature guided tours, live demonstrations, and activities showcasing various career pathways. Students enrolled in CFCC’s Adult High School (AHS) programs will be on hand to demonstrate several skills. Demonstrations include fingerprinting, Nurse Aide, welding, and forklifts. In addition, AHS Digital Photography students will offer free professional headshots to all attendees. CFCC’s AHS Student Ambassadors will be available to lead tours of the department’s classrooms and resume lab.

Several community partners will also attend, providing valuable information about their services, which support students in their academic and career journey. Partners in attendance include Elements, Cape Fear Literacy Council, Communities in Schools of Cape Fear, and the Wilmington Housing Authority. CFCC’s Counseling department will also be at the event to share resources and information.

“We are excited to open our doors to the community and show how CFCC’s Academic and Career Readiness programs can help individuals achieve their educational and career goals,” said Katherine Maidman, Senior Director of Academic and Career Readiness. “This event is a great opportunity for potential students and community members to see firsthand what we offer and connect with our partners who provide essential services.”
