CFCC to Offer Introduction to Battery Electric Vehicle Safety Course

Wilmington, NC (December 8, 2025) – Cape Fear Community College is offering a new Introduction to Battery Electric Vehicle safety course designed to equip students and automotive professionals with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to safely work with fully electric vehicles. The one-day training will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at CFCC’s Union Station, located at 502 N. Front Street, Wilmington.
As the demand for electric vehicles continues to grow, so does the need for technicians who understand high-voltage systems and electric vehicle safety protocols. CFCC’s BEV Safety course provides foundational training for individuals entering the EV industry or expanding their technical skill sets.
Course participants will gain experience in:
- Identifying high-voltage components in BEVs
- Performing safe shutdown, isolation, and lockout/tagout procedures
- Understanding charging systems, charging levels, and related infrastructure
- Using diagnostic tools to verify a safe working state
“This course prepares students for the realities of working with electric vehicles by emphasizing safety, awareness, and correct procedures,” said Erin Easton, CFCC Vice President of Economic and Workforce Development and Continuing Technical Education. “As EV technology advances, CFCC will continue to provide accessible workforce training that meets industry needs.”
