2024 – 2025 Golden LEAF Community College Scholarship Program
The Golden LEAF scholars program will provide grants of up to $1,850 annually for workforce continuing education students. The scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare, and other components of the total cost of attendance for each of the fall, spring and summer semesters. These programs are 96 hours or more and lead to a credential and/or employment.
ELIGIBLE PROGRAMS
Programs on the NC Workforce Credentials list qualify for the Golden LEAF Scholarship. To see if your program is eligible check the NC Workforce Credentials List .
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Resident of North Carolina
- Reside in a qualifying Golden LEAF County
- Be enrolled in Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) pathways/courses offered for 96 hours or more and leading to a State of industry-recognized credential. To see if your program is eligible check the NC Workforce Credentials List .
- Students must explain their financial need in the provided area on the application.
SECU Foundation
The SECU Foundation Bridge to Career program supports North Carolina community college students seeking to obtain state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials through the Workforce Continuing Education Division that lead to sustainable wage careers within their local communities.
ELIGIBLE PROGRAMS
Programs on the NC Workforce Credentials list qualify for the SECU Scholarship. To see if your program is eligible check the NC Workforce Credentials List .
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Be a North Carolina resident.
- Be enrolled or enrolling in a course(s) leading to an NC Workforce Credential at the Essential or Career Level, or that has been approved by NCCCS.
- The student would be eligible to be awarded up to two (2) scholarships within the program year when taking two (2) scholarship eligible courses. (Program year runs July 1, 2024 – August 31, 2025).
- Be in one of the following target groups: unemployed & underemployed, members of the NC National Guard, military veterans & spouses, or underserved populations in a specific workforce sector or area.
- Not be a director, employee, or family member of an employee of the State Employees’ Credit Union or SECU Foundation; and
- Must complete their course work supported by this scholarship by end of program year (August 31, 2025).
- Students must complete and sign both the Scholarship Application and the Scholarship Photo Release Form provided by SECU Foundation. (No individual photos of applicants are required; the photo release form is to ensure the college and SECU are covered if photos of students are taken as they participate in the program or are offered by a student voluntarily).
CFCC Foundation Scholarships
The Continuing Education Scholarship application is available for scholarship opportunities in the following programs: Electrical Lineworker, Electrical Apprenticeship, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Alarm Safety, Law Enforcement, and Nurse Aide.
Robert C. Massengill Scholarship Application
The Cape Fear Electrical Contractors Association, Inc. established the Robert C. Massengill Scholarship Fund at CFCC in 2020 to honor the memory of Robert C. Massengill, an electrical contractor with a long history in the Wilmington area. Selected students in the Electrical Apprenticeship Level 1 course will receive a $600 scholarship to help finance the cost of tools essential to the electrical trade.
WIOA Scholarships
Call or visit your local NCWorks Career Center today to learn if you qualify for WIOA sponsorship! Eligibility factors apply. Ask to speak to a WIOA Title I Specialist.

StepUp Wilmington
Since 2003, StepUp Wilmington has supported individuals to reach their employment goals. Our process supports individuals to get and keep quality jobs, rebuild hope & self-esteem, and create opportunities for themselves. Additionally, StepUp’s program graduates are able to be considered for funding for hard skills training, contingent upon available budget. GED Scholarships
Is the cost of the official GED exam ($20/test x 4 subject tests = $80) holding you back from taking it? If so, contact your GED-prep instructor for an application and information on qualifying for either a full (all 4 subjects) or partial (one or more subjects) GED exam scholarship.
