Pathway Home 2 Grant
In 2021, the U.S. Department of Labor awarded CFCC a $3.9 million Pathway Home 2 Grant in partnership with LINC, INC to connect individuals transitioning from prison or jail to job training and support services in an effort to reduce recidivism and improve employment outcomes for people reentering after incarceration.
Grant highlights
- Enrolled 368 people returning to New Hanover and Pender Counties from 2022-2024.
- Recidivism Rate remained under 12% throughout grant timeline.
- Provided case management before and after incarceration to ensure participants were supported holistically during transition back to the community.
- Connected participants to healthcare and peer support specialists.
- Supported participants enrollment into community college programs, including financial aid assistance
- Connected participants with employers and supported through the hiring process.
- Participants received incentives for obtaining industry valued certifications, remaining in a job for more than 30 days, and staying engaged with the program during the 12-month follow-up period.
- Stipends were provided for housing and transportation support during the active portion of the program.
