Biography
I was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in Elementary Education. My passion for helping others took me in a new healthcare direction, where I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center School of Radiography. I then obtained my Credentials as a Medical Sonographer through on-the-job training and completing weekly Ultrasound courses at Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute and Bowman Gray School of Medicine.
I moved to beautiful Wilmington in 1999, accepting a position as a sonographer at a local Obstetrical outpatient facility. In 2004, my excitement for the profession took me to accept the Medical Sonography Program Director position at Cape Fear Community College, where I could begin to share my knowledge and skills with students who possess the same passion for helping others. I accepted the challenge, developed the current Associate in Applied Science Degree program in Medical Sonography, and pursued National Accreditation through CAAHEP. The program earned national accreditation in January of 2007 and maintained it by following CAAHEP standards and guidelines. www.caahep.org
