Wastewater Treatment Operator

There is a growing need for technicians and plant operators trained in water quality, testing, and treatment.

In this course, you will learn about the operation of biological wastewater treatment systems, the laws and regulations related to treating wastewater systems, equipment use/maintenance, and collecting/analyzing samples.

Water and wastewater treatment plant and system operators are responsible for:

  • Collecting and analyzing water samples
  • Documenting findings and implementing solutions
  • Inspecting and repairing equipment

Upon completion, this course will prepare participants for the NC Biological Grade I and II* North Carolina Water Pollution Control System Operator’s Certification Commission Exam (WPCSOCC).

Job Outlook

The mean hourly wage for a wastewater treatment operator is $21.80 per hour in North Carolina and $7,049 overtime per year.
