Heavy Equipment Operator

Are you ready to dig into an exciting career?

This new 300 hour course in partnership with Thomson, Corder, and Company , Honeycutt Construction Services, and Smith-Talbert Construction prepares students for entry level jobs in heavy equipment construction projects like mining and road construction. Students will learn to:

  • Operate equipment safely including mini excavators, excavators, bulldozers, and articulated dump trucks
  • Employee Safety practices and Confined Space Training
  • Interpret civil drawings
  • Use excavation math
  • Interpret soils and grades
  • Provide basic maintenance
  • Meet industry leaders and experts

Course schedule:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00am-4:30pm

Requirements:

  • 18 or older
  • 5 Panel Drug Screen
  • Work boots
  • Rain gear
  • Work gloves

What to expect:

  • Course will be held at CFCC’s North Campus and at a construction site in Rocky Point
  • Much of class will be outdoors in dusty and muddy conditions

Program Cost

  • $1,040 registration fee
  • $180 book fee
  • $100 drug screen
