CFCC Announces New Lineup of Hands-On Film Classes at Cinespace Studios

Wilmington, NC (September 18, 2026) – Cape Fear Community College is launching a new series of specialized, short-term film and digital media training courses this fall to prepare students for careers in North Carolina’s film industry and modern digital content creation market.
Hosted at Cinespace Studios, these short courses offer practical, on-set experience using industry-standard gear. Students work under the guidance of seasoned industry professionals, gaining the exact technical skills, set protocols, and department workflows expected on real-world film sets and digital media projects.
Fall Course Schedule & Offerings
- Cinematography & Lighting
Dates: October 13 – December 7, 2026
Overview: Covers creative and technical cinematography concepts, exposure control, lighting design, and camera team collaboration.
- Camera Dept. and Operations
Dates: October 13 – December 7, 2026
Overview: Students develop competencies in camera preparation, lens changes, focus systems, media management, slating, and clear on-set communication alongside a Director of Photography.
- Social Media Content Creation & Management
Dates: October 13 – December 7, 2026
Overview: Teaches the complete video workflow for short-form digital channels like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Topics include storytelling, lighting, sound, editing with accessible software, content scheduling, and client account management.
- Filmmaking Bootcamp
Dates: November 9 – November 20, 2026 (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
Overview: An intensive, two-week practical immersion into short film production. Topics include directing, acting, lighting, grip and electric, production sound, stunts, and special effects. Students will prep and shoot an original short film.
