Recent High-Profile Movies and TV Shows Filmed in and around Wilmington

Wilmington, North Carolina, has become a hotspot for filmmakers in recent years, hosting a wave of high-profile movies and TV shows. Many of these productions have utilized locations on or near Cape Fear Community College’s downtown campus, showcasing the city’s historic and coastal charm.

CFCC’s Film and Video Production Technology program benefits from this vibrant local film industry. Students and alums frequently secure roles in these productions, gaining hands-on experience.

Cody Hanna, a 2014 graduate of CFCC’s Film and Video Production Technology program, is a shining example of this. Cody won two 48-Hour Film Festivals in Wilmington and Greensboro for his independent films. He has also worked as a production assistant on several notable film and television series, including “Under the Dome,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Halloween Kills,” and “The Black Phone.”

Reflecting on his success, Cody said, “I’m grateful to have a solid background from CFCC that prepared me to face larger productions and provided excellent networking opportunities within the film community. All thanks to my roots at Cape Fear.”
