CFCC introduces program to assist Spanish-speaking students
Wilmington, NC — Cape Fear Community College is excited to introduce a program to assist aspiring professionals who are non-native English speakers. This pilot initiative introduces Spanish interpreters in select Nail Technician and Electrical Apprenticeship I courses.
The program aims to overcome language barriers and create an inclusive learning environment where every student has the chance to succeed. By providing interpreters, CFCC is committed to helping individuals who may lack confidence in their English language skills to pursue their education and career
goals.
Interpreters will be available in the following courses:
- Nail Technician course running from September 3 to November 26, 2024. The class meets Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 9:30 p.m.
- Electrical Apprenticeship I class for Pender County high school students. The class meets Monday through Friday from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
“We are proud to introduce this pilot program integrating Spanish interpretation into select courses,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This initiative is a further step toward ensuring all of our students, regardless of their native language, have the confidence to pursue educational resources to start a new career or change their current career pathway.”
