CFCC announces new transfer agreement with Western Carolina University

cfcc campusWilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) has partnered with Western Carolina University (WCU) to provide students with a seamless pathway to further their education and achieve their academic goals. This strategic partnership builds on the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, a statewide agreement that governs the transfer of credits between North Carolina community colleges and public universities.

The new program allows currently enrolled CFCC students a direct-entry pathway to WCU upon graduation. To participate in the program, CFCC students must meet the following requirements:

  • Submit a WCU application for admission and records by WCU deadline;
  • Submit application fee or waiver and fulfill all commitment action steps;
  • Be in good standing at Cape Fear Community College and any other institutions attended;
  • Earn and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 at CFCC and a minimum GPA of 2.20 in their most recent term;
  • Earn an associate degree from Cape Fear Community College in a college transfer program or in an applied program for which an articulation agreement exists;
  • Enroll at WCU within one academic year.

“This agreement represents a significant step forward for our students, providing them with more opportunities to continue their education and achieve their professional goals,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “We are proud to partner with Western Carolina University and look forward to the positive impact this will have on our students and the community.”

Western Carolina University, an NC Promise school, offers an affordable tuition rate of $500 per semester, making higher education more accessible to graduates.
