CFCC partners with UNC Charlotte to establish seamless transfer pathway to bachelor’s through 49erNext program

Wilmington Campus Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is proud to announce an articulation agreement with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) to offer students a direct and seamless pathway to a bachelor’s degree through the 49erNext program. This partnership ensures a smooth transition from an associate degree to a bachelor’s degree and provides students with support to ensure their success.

The 49erNext program is designed specifically to make the transfer process straightforward and stress-free, giving students an opportunity to maximize their credits and make steady progress toward a four-year degree. Students enrolled in any of CFCC’s associate degree programs will benefit from academic resources and a dedicated transfer plan that aligns their coursework with the requirements for a bachelor’s degree at UNC Charlotte.

“Through the 49erNext program, our students can confidently work toward their academic and career goals knowing they have a clear, mapped-out path to a bachelor’s degree,” said Lucinda McNamara, CFCC Dean of University Transfer and Partnerships. “This partnership with UNC Charlotte provides our students with the support and resources they need to achieve their aspirations without losing valuable time or credits in the transfer process.”

Students participating in 49erNext will have access to a number of benefits, including early access to academic advising, invitations to campus events, and a designated support network to ease the transition to university life. Additionally, students in the program will benefit from collaborative advising between CFCC and UNC Charlotte, ensuring their academic journey is closely monitored and aligned with their future goals.

“Our partnership with CFCC fosters a deeper alignment that creates the conditions necessary for student success,” said Teresa Petty, Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of University College. “By collaborating closely, we not only enhance pathways to higher education but also ensure that students receive the support and resources they need to thrive academically and professionally.”

This agreement is available to all CFCC students who meet the eligibility requirements and complete an associate degree. The program is open for enrollment immediately, and interested students are encouraged to speak with their advisors.
