CFCC to host Juneteenth celebration
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) will host a Juneteenth celebration on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This event is open to the public at no cost and will take place in Windell Daniels Hall, located on the top floor of CFCC’s Union Station at 502 N. Front Street, Wilmington.
The celebration will feature various activities, including educational opportunities on the history of Juneteenth, a fair showcasing local black-owned businesses, catering by On Thyme Catering, and a t-shirt giveaway. Food and t-shirts will be available while supplies last.
“Juneteenth is a pivotal day in American history,” said Donterio Perkins, CFCC Diversity Success Coordinator. “We are excited to host this event and bring our community together to celebrate African American culture and heritage.”
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. This day is a time to celebrate freedom and reflect on the past.
