CFCC to offer second annual Construction Academy
Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is excited to announce the second annual Construction Academy, designed to provide participants with the knowledge and experience needed to begin a rewarding career in the construction industry.
The Construction Academy is an intensive 8-week course from June 10 to July 31, 2024. Classes are held every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The academy costs $260, which includes the registration fee, the required textbook, and access to all materials and equipment.
The program is open to anyone 16 years and older who wants to pursue a career in construction. No prior experience or educational background in construction is required.
We are proud to partner with Carolinas AGC to offer a scholarship to all students who meet attendance requirements. Students will be awarded a total of $1,050 each. This includes the $750 scholarship and reimbursement for registration and books. CFCC has also partnered with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) to facilitate this program.

During the academy, students will learn about various topics, including OSHA 10, basic safety, introduction to construction, math, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, basic rigging, communication skills, employability skills, and materials handling. These topics will provide a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry and equip participants with the skills to succeed. In addition, students can shadow professionals from our partners Balfour Beatty, Carmichael Construction Company, Monteith Construction Corporation, and Paragon Building Corporation.
