CFCC transforms Wilma W. Daniels Gallery into dual art gallery and live art lab

wilma gallery lab space Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is excited to announce the transformation of the Wilma W. Daniels Gallery into a dynamic, dual-purpose space that serves as both a public art gallery and a live art lab for student learning. This innovative initiative enhances hands-on educational opportunities for students while continuing to showcase diverse art exhibitions at no cost to the community.

The newly renovated Wilma W. Daniels Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Currently the gallery is displaying various art mediums from CFCC’s talented faculty. This exhibition will run through February 15.

In addition to its role as a gallery, the space now serves as a Live Art Lab where students gain invaluable, practical experience in the art world. Under the guidance of CFCC faculty and local art professionals, students are immersed in learning critical skills, including artwork installation, curation, documentation, cataloging, art handling, promotion, and gallery operations.

“Our goal is to bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional art world,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “This transformation allows students to develop real-world skills in a live setting, preparing them for careers in galleries, museums, and beyond, while still enriching the cultural landscape of our community.”
