Biography
Annie Jewell is a professional vocalist, violinist, and native of Wilmington, NC. She began taking Suzuki violin lessons at the age of three and started performing in concerts with her family band around that same time.
In 2017, Jewell graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in Music and a minor in Spanish. In 2021, she earned her Masters of Letters in Sacred Music from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
As a full-time faculty member at CFCC, Jewell teaches music, with specialties in chorus and voice. Additionally, she is the director of the Youth Choir of Wilmington, a violinist in the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the local folk-adjacent groups The Midatlantic and Harken Here.
She previously served as the concertmaster for the St. Andrews Symphony Orchestra (2020), the opening musician for the North Carolina Jazz Festival (2023), and the clinician for New Hanover County’s All County Chorus (2023). Jewell is passionate about bridging the gaps between folk art and high art and making music accessible to all groups of people.
