Biography
Mrs. Davis has been an educator for over twenty-five years as a licensed teacher with a BA in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed in Elementary Education. Working in both public and private schools in North Carolina, New York City, and Massachusetts has afforded her exposure to the various techniques and educational philosophies of these areas. Her experience includes classroom teaching, consulting, director of admissions, professional development leader, teacher mentor, and board member of a parent cooperative.
She is trained in the Reggio Emilia approach, a philosophy of teaching and learning that builds curriculum from children’s interests while fostering collaboration and strong community connections. She has a passion for exploring children’s thought processes by providing materials that extend problem-solving techniques and help children reach higher levels of thinking through play. Creative arts and their role in learning also strongly influence her teaching style.
As an instructor, Mrs. Davis values students’ voices, experiences, and reflections, recognizing that understanding who we are as people is essential for meaningful collaboration and for putting theory into practice with young children and families.
Outside of CFCC, she enjoys activities involving the outdoors: running, biking, hiking. She spends most of her time watching her son play soccer, her daughter run cross country and track, or walking her dog Harley.
