Biography

John Olsen is the current lead instructor of the Boat Manufacture and Service program at Cape fear Community College. John has worked in the boat building and repair industry continuously since graduating from the CFCC Boat building program in 1992. Manufacturers John has worked for include Grady White Boats, Buddy Davis Yachts, and Bennett Brothers Yachts. In 2000 John moved from the manufacturing industry to the retail market as a dealership service manager in the Wilmington area. In 2007 John became self-employed as the owner of South Bay Fiberglass. John has had an interest in boats of all kinds since childhood. Inspired by growing up around the wooden boats of the Great South Bay of Long Island, and two family owned boatyards.
