Elementary Education Residency Licensure Program
This program provides a pathway to licensure for educators teaching kindergarten through sixth grade. With a flexible structure that supports working professionals, the program enables you to meet licensure requirements while continuing to teach. Participants gain the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to advance their careers in the classroom. Coursework is delivered through weekly online sessions and in-person classes held on alternating weeks.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 2.7
- Have completed 24 credit hours of coursework in the requested licensure area or general education
- Be employed by a North Carolina public school or public charter school
- Have completed all professional development training required by their PSU/LEA
Educators seeking licensure can complete the Elementary Residency Licensure Program and earn both a certificate and a teaching license in less than three years.
