Opportunities to Support CFCC Students on Giving Tuesday
Wilmington, NC – Since 2012, the Tuesday following Thanksgiving has been celebrated as Giving Tuesday, a day that encourages individuals across the globe to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. The CFCC Foundation allows students to succeed and fulfill their goals despite potential financial or emergency hardships. Through the generosity of donors, students are provided support through scholarships, certification fees, and unforeseen emergencies impacting their education.
“I am grateful for the National Association of Women in Construction Annual Scholarship,” said Maria Torres, a CFCC student. “I had many obstacles that I had to overcome while attending college. I was trying to work full-time as a brick mason while going to classes. I would drive an hour and thirty minutes daily to work and school. It wasn’t easy, but I’m finally reaching the end.”
An investment in our students is a direct investment in our community. Over 98% of CFCC students are employed within the year they graduate. There are numerous pathways to support CFCC students. Donors may choose a particular field of study, area of greatest need, or a specific scholarship or endowment. If you are looking to provide a seasonal donation, the Betsy Leonard Holiday Helpers endowment provides holiday assistance to students in need, as well as their children.
Since 2005, Betsy was integral to both the college and the Foundation. In 2008 she created the Holiday Helper program. Since its inception, the CFCC Foundation has received 1,500 individual gifts, totaling $245,106 – 100% of which has gone directly to students. Following Betsy’s passing in July of 2022, her legacy lives on through the endowment.
