Wilmington, NC – Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) is proud to announce the graduation of its first class of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT). This milestone marks a significant achievement for both the graduates and the college as we expand our health science programs to meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals in the region.

The inaugural class has eight graduates who have completed the MLT program, equipping them with the essential skills and knowledge required for this vital healthcare role. Of these eight graduates, five have secured positions with Novant at New Hanover Regional Medical and one at Columbus Regional Healthcare.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the graduation of our first Medical Laboratory Technology class,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “These graduates are now prepared to make significant contributions to patient care and medical science, and we are proud of their accomplishments. Their journey in healthcare is just beginning, and we are confident they will make an impact in their field.”

The Medical Laboratory Technology program at CFCC equips students with the skills to perform, evaluate, and validate laboratory tests, ensuring accuracy and reliability. Additionally, students learn to manage clinical laboratory resources and operations and collaborate effectively in diagnosing and treating patients.

Cape Fear Community College remains committed to developing new and expanding existing health science programs to address the region’s need for skilled healthcare professionals. For more information on the Medical Laboratory Technology program, visit cfcc.edu/medical-laboratory-technology/ .
