  • Identifying common skin and medical disorders and how to report them to a pet’s owner

  • Nail trimming, ear cleaning, eye care, and wrinkle cleaning
  • Techniques and procedures based on type of coats

*This program meets the training requirements for students to earn the Professional Groomer Credential through the World Pet Association.

Dog grooming is a vital part of the well-being and health of a dog, which can improve its quality of life. In the United States the projected job growth for dog groomers is 33% and the annual job openings are 332,700. In North Carolina, the projected job growth is 18% and the projected annual job openings are 2,028.

Professional Grooming Kit
Dependent upon provider
Toolkit with professional grooming supplies, including clippers, blades, brushes, combs, shears, and nail clippers. Approximately $700.
Important Program Update – Effective July 2026

Beginning July 2026, the registration cost for the Dog Grooming program will increase to $780.

At that time, students will no longer be required to purchase their own grooming kit, as all necessary tools and supplies will be provided. Please note: Students may still choose to purchase their own clippers, as clipper preferences can vary based on comfort and hand fit.
