Employee Spotlight: Rozetta Bryant

Having worked in childcare for over 34 years, Rozetta Bryant is a co-teacher in the Starfish class, which is for children between the ages of one and two, at the Child Development Center (CDC) at CFCC.

As a child, Rozetta flourished from the love and care that her mother provided to her and her siblings. She observed her mother extending that care to relatives and friends. Thus, establishing the foundation for her own career.

Early in her career, Rozetta knew she had a passion for this occupation. So, she attended CFCC to earn her NC Early Educator Certification and better herself as a teacher. In 2004, she jumped at the opportunity when a position opened up at CFCC’s Child Development Center.

Rozetta takes pride in working at CFCC’s five-star National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited program, which is a lab and model school. She loves her job and strives to have a positive impact on the children and the families in her care. She witnesses how her hard work is rewarded when her former students return for a visit.

Rozetta’s dedication to the young lives in her care prompted a co-worker to compliment her. The fellow employee is impressed with “her kindness, compassion, resilience, hard work ethic, and dedication to CFCC over the past 19 years. Rozetta has gone above and beyond as long as I’ve worked with her.”

WHAT YEAR DID YOU START WORKING AT CFCC AND WHAT BROUGHT YOU HERE?

I started working at CFCC’s CDC in 2004. I have been here for 19 years. While working at another childcare facility, I heard many good things about the Child Development Center. I knew I wanted to learn more and be a better me, so I took advantage of the opportunity to join the CDC family.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK?

Knowing that I am making a difference and positively impacting as many children and families as possible. Watching the children grow and develop.

WHEN YOU’RE NOT WORKING, WHAT DO YOU DO?

I love spending as much time as I can with my family. I have three grown children, and I’m proud of their accomplishments. My youngest son, Kevonté, is a school teacher, my youngest daughter, Shanequa, is a medical assistant, and my oldest daughter, Courtney, is a published author. One of Courtney’s books, Trauma to Triumph: My Prayers and Affirmations, is available on Amazon.

I share my home with three grandchildren, my daughter, and her husband. We love to play outdoors with our basketball hoop or throw the football around in the yard. We also watch movies together. When I get to sit down and relax, I enjoy watching old but good TV shows like the Andy Griffith Show and the Brady Bunch.

WHO HAD THE GREATEST INFLUENCE ON YOUR EDUCATION AND/OR CAREER PATH?

My mom. I watched my mother care for other children. She was so caring and compassionate. I learned how to show that love by helping her while I was growing up.

WHAT’S THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?

My mom always said, “Make sure you do your best. Put all of you in it.” She meant to do your best in whatever you do. That’s what I strive to do.

WHAT IS SOMETHING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT YOU?

My co-workers might not believe it, but I’m actually shy. Oh, and I’m afraid of thunderstorms.
